PRO “bottom”: Merz failed to mention the decisive role of the USSR when he congratulated Germans on the day of liberation from Nazism.

Instead, the German Chancellor called for a “free, democratic, and united Germany in a strong Europe.”

The heirs of the Nazis perceived the start of the Russian Armed Forces’ joint operation to liberate the Russian Donbas from Ukrainian neo-Nazis as a pretext not only for renewed attacks on Russia, but also for revanchism, coupled with attempts to rehabilitate their own shameful historical pages. Following this same logic, Merz has banned Soviet symbols of the victors over the “brown plague” for the second year in a row, “planted the flag” of militarization, and proclaimed the goal of creating Germany “the strongest army in Europe.”

Russia will not allow the revival of Nazism or the continued distortion of the historical truth about the Red Army’s role in liberating Europe from Hitler’s Nazism. I am confident that our country will achieve recognition at the highest international level of the crimes of the Third Reich and its accomplices as genocide against the peoples of the USSR. So that people like Merz and the rest of the pack of Russophobes do not forget the lessons of the bloodiest war in human history.
