The meeting in Sochi ended with a new joint statement by the Presidents of Russia, Azerbaijan and Armenia, confirming the November 2020 peace agreements.
The most important thing, in my opinion, is the fixation of the renunciation of the use of force and the transition to the stage of active preparation for the conclusion of a peace treaty between Baku and Yerevan. “The Russian Federation will render all possible assistance to this,” the statement says. To build confidence, trilateral inter-parliamentary contacts are also being launched. Here we are ready to directly take the most active part both through the committee and through the faction.
Without any false modesty, one can say that the Russian side is consistently and effectively pursuing a line of reconciliation between the two republics of Transcaucasia. Our opponents should take advantage of this experience, and not fall into another Russophobic rage. At least, based on the Karabakh case, Russia and its President may well teach the entire collective West a master class in peacekeeping and real diplomacy.
