Silvio Berlusconi had incredible charisma and was in many ways a talented pioneer. Having created the Forward Italy party from scratch in 1994, he managed to win the parliamentary elections in just 60 days. And since then, firmly entrenched in big politics.
I had the honor of knowing him personally. Silvio Berlusconi, like no one else in Europe over the past three decades, understood and respected Russia. He made a huge contribution to the development of Russian-Italian relations and the formation of a European security architecture back in the early 2000s. Unfortunately, the much less wise politicians of the Old and New Worlds were able to nullify Berlusconi’s efforts over the years.
Sincere condolences to the family, friends and all the people of Italy. This is a heavy loss.
