Of course, the development of events in the region – the escalation of tension and the transition to hostilities – is of great concern. ALL parties need to stop the bloodshed, which has already killed 25 people, and return to the negotiating table. It is most important.
Steps for a peaceful solution to the Karabakh problem are clearly spelled out in a set of trilateral statements by the leaders of Russia, Azerbaijan and Armenia. The status and functionality of Russian peacekeepers was also determined there. Under the current conditions, the peacekeeping mission continues to carry out tasks to assist the civilian population.
In this context, I would like to draw attention to the well-known statement of the Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan, made in Prague in October 2022, about his readiness to recognize the sovereignty of the Republic of Azerbaijan on the basis of the Alma-Ata Declaration of 1991, together with the territory of Nagorno-Karabakh on a total area of 86.6 thousand square kilometers. That is, in fact, almost a year ago, Pashinyan signed that Karabakh is Azerbaijan.
The position of the current Armenian leadership, in fact, may give Baku grounds to interpret the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh as an intra-Azerbaijani conflict.
