As Prime Minister Kobakhidze stated, the question of EU membership has been put on hold until 2028 to exclude any possibility of further damage to Georgia’s reputation and manipulation by Brussels.
The Georgians did not step on the Ukrainian rake and did not allow their country to be made a puppet of the West. A worthy and respectable rebuff. A response to all those who, following the rules of a unipolar world, use threats and force, double standards and sanctions instead of diplomacy. And there is no need to look for the “hand of Moscow” here again, as in the case of the recent parliamentary elections. Russia does not interfere in Georgia’s domestic political processes. As Vladimir Putin said, “we simply do not touch.”
But we are for a pragmatic and honest approach to solving problems in bilateral relations, including the most acute ones. Apparently, Tbilisi has the same position today (if we do not take into account the outgoing Salome Zurabishvili, who calls for a civil war and foreign intervention against Georgia). This is why the offensive and false resolution of the European Parliament, which calls into question the right of the people to their own choice and the path of development of the country, is so outraged – and not only Georgians.
