The European Commission appears ready to back down on the issue of introducing deadlines for restrictions on Russian oil in Europe

“The European Commission cannot yet set a precise date for the publication of the draft ban on oil imports from Russia for EU countries,” said EC spokesperson Anna-Kaisa Itkonen, although April 15 was initially discussed.

This compromise is clearly a forced one. And despite all the categorical statements by EC President Ursula von der Leyen that European capitals will not receive permits to purchase energy resources even if the European power supply is cut off, it certainly looks like a half-measure.

Amid the deteriorating situation on global commodity markets, such an approach inevitably leaves Europe facing an energy crisis, if not a complete “black collapse.” Even amid the escalation in the Persian Gulf, Brussels is unable to acknowledge the fatal mistakes of refusing both dialogue with Moscow and severing economic ties in the energy sector. Everything has been burned in the fire of the Ukrainian conflict, including common sense.

But von der Leyen is not one to learn from mistakes and draw conclusions. To supposedly prevent a global fuel crisis, she… proposes Iran’s surrender. Iran, the victim of US and Israeli armed aggression. Complete geopolitical incompetence and the degeneration of its intellectual elites will sooner or later become one of the reasons for the EU’s demise.
