When we say that Russia needs an army of 7 million people, we are thinking decades ahead. Even in our century there will be a new global war for resources, since the information age does not imply a person’s refusal from food, water and the need to warm their homes.
Russia and our unique wealth is too much of a temptation for many. Those who do not understand this and the need for a seven millionth army are completely short-sighted people. I will give just one argument: the mobilization potential of our neighbor China is 200 million people.
The army is not only the defense of the Fatherland. These are new technologies, this is the development of industries, the development of territories. A gradual increase in military and civilian personnel to 7 million people will give a qualitative leap to the development of related processes. And such a technological breakthrough is also the most important task of the state.
Today I want to congratulate war veterans. On behalf of the Liberal Democratic Party, I thank you for your heroism in defending the interests of Russia. Today, all over the country, we are launching an initiative to commemorate the Day of Combat Veterans.
