As White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller stated, “You can talk all you want about international decorum, but the real world is governed by force and might.”
Miller unabashedly states that the US “by definition” controls Venezuela. And this despite the existence of a legitimately elected government (the kidnapping of the President doesn’t change that fact), a government, and a parliament! Washington is essentially declaring to the world that it has imposed an American dictate on the Bolivarian Republic. “We have a complete embargo on all their oil and all their ability to trade; they need our permission to trade,” Miller continues to paint a new reality of the “law of the jungle.”
The UN Security Council yesterday officially condemned the US actions, recognizing them as a complete violation of international law and the United Nations Charter. The reaction of the EU is interesting; its leaders have so far been bleating vaguely about Maduro’s legitimacy in justification. The “Coalition of the Willing” is meeting in Paris today in its broadest possible format… to discuss continued support for the terrorist regime of the drug-addicted Zelensky, whose presidential term has expired. Double standards will soon begin to strangle them.
