The situation is unacceptable! Once again (in my case, the third!) The United States violates its international obligations as the host country of the UN headquarters, arbitrarily using visa restrictions to grossly interfere in the work of its General Assembly and other structures! So they, apparently, are trying to “shut the mouth” of all those who expose the very unsightly underside of the American policy of imposing its own hegemony, dictatorship and “exceptionalism” in world affairs. Russia has already drawn the attention of the UN Secretariat to the inadmissibility of such a line. I am sure that a corresponding and quite tough demarche can follow this time too.
What I want to say in general: Washington’s “visa wars” acutely call into question the advisability of the continued location of the UN headquarters on US territory. More than once he proposed moving it to a state with a higher level of responsibility regarding the fulfillment of obligations to the international community. Welcome to Crimea, Ulyanovsk, Yekaterinburg or any other Russian region… For our part, we are ready to guarantee unimpeded access for all members of national delegations to absolutely United Nations events.
