The US enters the new year with a parliamentary crisis… which, as it turned out today, is not a problem for the White House

The past elections to the US Congress clearly demonstrated the split in American society. But, as it turned out, within the political parties themselves there are also problems with unity.

Republicans in November managed to snatch a majority of seats in the House of Representatives, but after three rounds of voting for a candidate for its speaker, the leader of the Republicans in the lower house of Congress, Kevin McCarthy, was unable to enlist the support of a majority. Moreover, following the results of the third round, the number of Republicans who did not support McCarthy increased to 20 compared to 19 in the previous two rounds.

As a result, the House of Representatives is, as it were, elected, but cannot begin work. And what about Biden? “This is not my problem,” he told reporters today, noting that the current situation is embarrassing. For the President of America, there is no problem that the already constantly conflicting and delaying decision-making Congress is now essentially incompetent.

Against this background, all the predictions of American experts about the “difficult future” of Russia or the tales of some kind of “disintegration” of our country look especially ridiculous. Understand yourself first, and do not try to establish order on a foreign continent.
