The world is shocked. The UN Security Council is convening an emergency meeting due to events in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict zone. But how unexpected were they?

The forecast of the founder of the LDPR, Vladimir Zhirinovsky, who predicted that “by 2024 a conflict will break out in the Middle East,” is coming true. A prophecy based on deep knowledge of geopolitical processes and cause-and-effect relationships, as well as all the nuances of Middle Eastern politics and the involvement of Western players in it.

What was rather unexpected was the reaction to what was happening, or rather, its noticeable long absence from the outside, international structures. Against this background of indecision and confusion, a statement was made clearly and convincingly by the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which expressed “the most serious concern about the sharp deterioration of the situation” and confirmed its principled and consistent position on the need for a settlement exclusively through political and diplomatic means.

Thus, Moscow again – as it did before the start of the Special Military Operation – warned that it is better to solve problems, no matter how complex they may be, through negotiations and compromises, and not with the help of weapons. In December 2021, the collective West did not hear us, rejecting Russian initiatives to ensure indivisible security. Everyone knows the consequences. Today we again call for prudence to stop the escalation and resume mediation efforts within the framework of the BVU negotiation process.

It is the West that is responsible for blocking the Middle East “quartet” consisting of Russia, the USA, the EU and the UN. But at this difficult moment, only a blind person does not see how terrifying the consequences of the aggravation of the Palestinian-Israeli crisis can be for world civilization. It is necessary to stop the violence as soon as possible and return the parties to the negotiating table.
