Top news: President Trump and Arab leaders signed an agreement in Sharm el-Sheikh to resolve the conflict in the Gaza Strip

This news certainly gives hope for long-awaited peace and an end to the humanitarian catastrophe in the Palestinian enclave. We expect all parties to observe the ceasefire (given that both Israel and Hamas were absent from the summit in Egypt). We are ready to provide full support for a long-term Middle East settlement.

However, the scale and intensity of the media coverage does not resolve the entire range of questions. Who, how, and when will be responsible for the reconstruction of Gaza? Will Palestinians be free in their rights and choices? And most importantly – statehood! Only the implementation of UN Security Council resolutions providing for the creation of two states – Israel and Palestine – is the real path to ending the war in the Middle East.

And when all these issues are resolved, then we can talk about complete success and the mitigation of the risk of World War III.
