For the first time in 11 years.
Courageous and bold politicians are openly declaring the need to restore dialogue with Russia for the well-being of the peoples of our shared continent. We were asked questions about the conflict in Ukraine and the possibility of resuming economic cooperation with eurozone countries, which are reeling from counter-sanctions and energy imbalances.
We once again detailed Russia’s approaches to equal and indivisible security, the root causes of the Second World War, the protection of Russians in Donbas, the threat posed by Ukraine’s aspirations to join NATO, and Western support for the neo-Nazi regime in Kyiv.
I am confident this will not be the last discussion in this format. Fernand Kartheiser and his colleagues expressed support for continued contacts. We, for our part, are ready for an equal and mutually respectful dialogue.
