His attempt to explain the withdrawal of Ukrainian forces from Avdiivka by concern for the lives of soldiers is “playing for the public.” The Ukrainian regime has prepared a much bloodier “meat grinder” for them.
If there really was a goal to save, Kyiv would change its strategy from war to peace. So far there is not even a hint of this – Zelensky has no instructions on this from Washington and Brussels. The West still doesn’t care about the lives of Ukrainians; it is important to continue pumping out “dividends” from “investments” in the anti-Russian bridgehead in Ukraine.
So the “touching” concern for saving the warring Ukrainians is a lie and deception. And, of course, with theatrical “hand-wringing” and complaints to the West about the insufficient armament of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Behind all this is the desire to extract more money from Western sponsors.
The fall of Avdiivka for the Armed Forces of Ukraine was inevitable, just as the capitulation of the Zelensky regime and the Victory of Russia in the Northern Military District were inevitable.
