The Foreign Affairs Committee held a meeting with MEP Luboš Blaga

On March 5, Chairman of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs Leonid Slutsky held a meeting with Member of the European Parliament, member of the party “Course – Social Democracy” Luboš Blaha. The parties discussed issues of cooperation between Russia and Slovakia, as well as the pan-European and international agenda.

Leonid Slutsky noted that Slovakia is moving away from the “dislocated” anti-Russian rhetoric, and thanked Luboš Blaha for constructive approaches in contrast to the Russophobic hysteria in the EP. “I want to say thank you for the position that you once took in the Council of Europe, and today in the European Parliament, defending healthy and honest approaches to genuine cooperation in Europe, to a stable and balanced European architecture. Because Western Europe is in a kind of agony,” Leonid Slutsky noted.

The head of the Committee emphasized that the point of no return in the movement towards a multipolar world has been passed, and a new Global Majority is being formed around Russia. “We represent different political parties, but we are united in our movement towards peace, common sense and cooperation for the sake of the prosperity of our countries and peoples,” he added.

Luboš Blaha, in turn, noted that he agreed with Leonid Slutsky’s position regarding the European Union. “The collective West has not experienced such a crisis since World War II as is happening today. If we look, the West is completely divided, and Russia is united. The West with a completely collapsed economy, and Russia is thriving. If we look at the front, the West is losing, and Russia is winning. And Europe has lost all its partners, including the United States of America, because of its military philosophy,” he said.

The Slovak MEP especially emphasized that he appreciates the contribution of the Soviet people to the victory over fascism. “We perceive you as liberators. But Western European countries still have a complex about the fact that they lost World War II. It was Russia that won it! “, concluded Luboš Blaha.

Leonid Slutsky expressed confidence in the continuation of contacts and welcomed Luboš Blaha’s intention to attend the ceremonial events in Russia in May to mark the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory.

From the Russian side, the meeting was also attended by State Duma deputies Alexey Chepa, Roza Chemeriz, Irina Rodnina, and Ivan Sukharev.
