“Standing over Mount Alyosha – a Russian soldier in Bulgaria”… State Duma deputies came to the defense of the famous Plovdiv monument to Soviet soldiers-liberators.

The State Duma unanimously adopted a statement calling to prevent the dismantling of the monument to the Soviet soldier “Alyosha”< /a> in the Bulgarian Plovdiv. The initiative, with all the signs of state vandalism, comes from members of the Plovdiv municipal council from the Democrats for a Strong Bulgaria (DSB) party, known for its Russophobic and pro-Western orientation. The issue of preserving the memorial in its historical place will be decided by local authorities on January 17. At the same time, dismantling work is proposed to be carried out until the end of 2024

“The barbaric war unleashed in the West against monuments of the Soviet era is, in essence, evidence of the inferiority and helplessness of the current Western so-called elites, who regularly demonstrate total incompetence and failure in resolving key issues on the domestic and international agenda,” the State Duma statement said.

If the Plovdiv municipal council proceeds on the occasion of a blatant Russophobic provocation, then undoubtedly the decision to dismantle “Alyosha” will fall as an indelible stain of shame on its initiators and executors. By the way, this is not the first such attempt, but each time Bulgarian citizens, grateful to the Russian soldier, stood up as a living wall to protect the monument. This should be the case this time too! We call for this and hope that the voice of the Russian deputy corps will be heard!
