The most important decision from the point of view of ensuring national interests and sovereignty.
After Russia’s withdrawal from the Council of Europe in March 2022, Strasbourg continued its policy of discrimination and double standards towards representatives of the Russian Federation in Soviet-European institutions. The resolution of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe significantly limited the powers of the Russian expert in the Advisory Committee created to monitor the implementation of their obligations by the countries party to the Convention. Thus, our country was deprived of the opportunity to participate in the development of decisions and monitor at the international level cases of violation of the rights of national minorities, primarily the Russian-speaking population abroad.
In such conditions, there is no point in Russia participating in the Treaty, which is interpreted in a very arbitrary manner both in Ukraine and the Baltic countries. Moreover, with the full connivance of the European authorities.
The principles laid down in the Convention are fully implemented in Russian legislation; its denunciation will not cause any damage to the rights of peoples living on the territory of the Russian Federation.
