The State Duma sharply condemned the decision of the Swedish authorities, who issued permission for the burning of the Koran at the main mosque in Stockholm. Such actions cannot be called a “protest action”, this is sacrilege, vandalism and provocation committed on the holy day for all Muslims, Eid al-Adha. And all this is happening in “enlightened Europe”.
The deputies unanimously voted for the adoption of the statement “On insulting the feelings of Muslims in Sweden”, where abuse of the holy book of Islam is called a crime aimed at inciting inter-religious discord and hatred. Russia is a multinational country. We stand up for the rights of believers and representatives of all faiths without exception. The desecration of holy things has nothing to do with freedom of speech and religion, as well as the vaunted “European values” and the principles of democracy.
