The United States and Israel are escalating tensions in the Persian Gulf and provoking Arab monarchies to take active military action against Iran. US Permanent Representative to NATO Whitaker openly stated the possibility of expanding the US-Israeli side of the Middle East conflict.
This is an extremely dangerous line. The US continues to justify its aggression against Iran with accusations of developing nuclear weapons. But there is and has never been any basis for this, as the IAEA has confirmed. Just as there was no basis for the US-led NATO coalition to invade Iraq in 2003.
A new war in the Middle East carries far more serious risks of global catastrophe. And this is in no way Tehran’s fault. According to various estimates, Israel possesses between 200 and 400 nuclear warheads. I repeat, further escalation threatens World War III.
The international community has no right to allow another Hiroshima. Russia possesses enormous peacekeeping potential and can effectively negotiate the most complex conflicts. We are also ready to utilize parliamentary diplomacy. We must prevent the confrontation from escalating. We discussed this in an interview with RT Arabic.
