For us, the collapse of the USSR was not a “natural process” or a “historical inevitability,” as the reformers called it. It was a catastrophic mistake, for which millions of people paid with the loss of their homeland, wars, poverty, broken families, and broken lives. The Communists destroyed a vast country, contrary to the will of the people, who declared their desire to live in the USSR in a referendum.
And yet, back then, in 1991, there was a man in the USSR who openly and publicly spoke out against the country’s disintegration. This was Vladimir Volfovich Zhirinovsky, founder of the LDPR. When many remained silent, rejoicing at “new opportunities,” he spoke bluntly: the collapse of the USSR was a catastrophe, a blow to the Russian people and to all who lived in a unified state. History, unfortunately, has proven him right.
This lesson cannot be forgotten. Because our enemies’ only chance is to force us to betray our own history once again, to convince us that they can justify the country’s disintegration, to devalue our memory, and replace it with myths about three hundred varieties of sausage and Bavarian beer. It won’t work.
The LDPR has always been and remains a party that preserves the traditions of national patriotism. We know the value of sovereignty and responsibility for the country. We remember how experiments on the state and the people end. And we will not allow this mistake to be repeated. The 1991 betrayal vaccine is working. We have a good memory.
A strong Russia begins with an honest conversation about the past and a firm will to protect the future. The LDPR stands for the greatness and power of the country!
