Leonid Slutsky: “The Wall Street Journal writes that representatives of the US administration have failed to convince some countries that Russia is allegedly planning an attack on Ukraine. As it turned out, American officials are conducting entire briefings for their European colleagues, the topic of which probably sounds nothing more than “the insidious plans of the villainous Moscow.”

In fact, Washington continues to test the strength of European sovereignty and its readiness to sacrifice it for the sake of the notorious Euro-Atlantic solidarity. But the question is: did the US diplomats talk about how Ukraine, under American patronage, is consistently sabotaging the implementation of the Minsk agreements? Or about how Kiev is using combat drones in Donbass, while only the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission has the right to launch them. Or about the supply of US arms to the Ukrainian government, which are then used in the Donbass against civilians?

Hardly told. Because the goals of the United States are very far from the establishment of peace in Ukraine. They do not need any settlement in the LPR and DPR, it is important for them to maintain an active stage of the conflict near the Russian borders in order to justify the expansion of NATO to the east and the excessive activity of the alliance in the Black Sea. All in the name of promoting the “anti-Russia” project and establishing their own hegemony.

However, this is a very dangerous situation, and it is also dangerous for the American allies in Europe. I am sure that there is also an awareness of reality, not all are fans of anti-Russian mythology and blindly follow in the wake of Washington. And therefore, the initiative of the President of Russia on security guarantees is becoming more and more urgent. Moreover, as reality shows, we are talking about the security of our common European continent. “
